Process

The following lists a simplified, step by step process of what I can provide for you and your project. A more detailed explanation of each step is included in the quotation that you will receive in step one. Not all steps of the following process are mandatory, and quotation can be adjusted to reflect your requirements. Likewise, should you wish to include extra steps to your project timeline at a later date, quotation for those additions can be supplied in addition to your initial quote.

Step 1 - Quotation

Quotation is always free! After an initial discussion, I will send you both a Client Brief and a Quotation Document for your project so that you are informed on the process, time constraints, cost and details of your project, along with helping me understand exactly what is most important to you and what you require for your project to be a success. The supplied client brief document is used as a scaffolding for your vision and I encourage you to supply as much information and references as you would like, along with this document. Through this process I hope to get a more personal understanding of what you wish to achieve so I can provide you with a more depth and client/project specific advise.

Please consider that depending on site restraints, planning requirements and overlays, and council feedback, I may not be able to incorporate all design preferences into the final product. My goal is to be forthcoming and realistic about what can and cannot be achieved, and assist you in understanding why design decisions are made.

Step 2 - Site Visit

Whilst not always required, site visits allow for a better understanding of the existing site conditions, the vision that you as a client have for the project, as well as accommodating a more dynamic back and forth conversation about what we can achieve. Site visits includes measuring of relevant site details for use in tandem with site surveys if applicable.

Step 3 - Design

The initial concept stage will provide you with an understanding what is possible based on your previously provided criteria. I will take your brief and implement a design that incorporates your ideas into an outcome that I think matches the design outcomes you've provided, but is also considerate of being approved by the responsible authority. My aim to explain my process and the reasoning why specific decisions were made so that you have a better understanding of what restrictions or concepts are at play.

Step 4 - Town Planning Set

Town Planning Drawings are a much more formal stage of the initial design concept. At this stage we include extra information required for council feedback and approval such as shadow diagrams and garden area analysis. These elements are considered in the design stage, but are refined here in more detail. Do note that a set of Town Planning drawings are not the only element required for council submission. At this stage I would recommend consulting with a Town Planning Specialist to help with required reports for the submission process

Step 5 - RFI

RFI, or Request for Further Information, is a checklist received from council in response to an initial application. This stage may require further alterations to the design based on that feedback, before council will accept the application. Ideally, by assessing council regulations and criteria before the initial application, we can minimise the chance of major changes to the design and proceed towards council approval by providing any extra information or adjusting the design to meet their requirements.

Step 6 - Working Drawing Set

Should you wish, following council approval, I can produce a set of Working drawings for your project, including additional information such as electrical plans and window/door schedules, along with refined construction floor plans and elevations, to allow you to proceed to the construction stage of your project.
